Changelog

Release notes for AskariFTP — the FTP and FTPS client for Android.

Version 1.0.1

Latest October 22, 2026

The first release on Google Play. Version 1.0.0 was used for testing only and was not released; everything it contained is part of 1.0.1.

Connections and security

  • FTP, explicit FTPS (AUTH TLS) and implicit FTPS. File listings and contents are encrypted (PROT P); this can be turned off per site for servers that refuse it.
  • TLS session reuse on data connections, which ProFTPD, vsftpd and FileZilla Server require. Works with TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3.
  • Certificate checks against the system trust store, with an “Unverified certificate” prompt that explains the problem (self-signed, expired, missing intermediates, issued to another host name) and shows the SHA-256 fingerprint. Trust once or always; trusted certificates are listed in Settings.
  • Site lock: opening a site asks for your phone’s fingerprint, face, pattern, PIN or password. One unlock lasts until the app has been in the background for a minute, and open sites are hidden again when it relocks. On by default; can be turned off in Settings.

Sites

  • Site manager: host, port, protocol, anonymous login, passive or active mode, filename encoding, starting folder, timeout, notes and a card colour. Passwords are encrypted with a key in the Android Keystore, or asked for on each connect.
  • Test connection shows the TLS version, cipher, server features and home folder.
  • Quick connect from the search bar, or from ftp://, ftpes:// and ftps:// links opened in other apps. A password in a link is never shown on screen.

Files

  • File browser: breadcrumbs, sorting, filter, hidden files, pull to refresh, multi-select, new folder, new text file, rename, recursive delete, permissions (chmod) with an owner/group/others grid, copy link, properties, server info, and a timestamped connection log with a raw command box.
  • Built-in text editor for files up to 2 MB, saved straight back to the server in the site’s encoding.
  • Open any remote file in another app.

Transfers

  • Transfer queue: one to six parallel uploads and downloads, whole-folder upload and download keeping the folder structure, pause and resume, automatic retries on network errors, a conflict policy (resume, overwrite, skip, keep both), preserved modification times, and live speed and time left.
  • Background transfers with a progress notification and a “Pause all” action; transfers interrupted by the system can be resumed.
  • Downloads go to a folder you pick, so no broad storage permission is needed.

App

  • Sites and Transfers tabs, Settings and About screens, a first-run “Add your first FTP site” screen, and light and dark themes.
  • AskariFTP Pro: the free version saves one site; a monthly or yearly subscription unlocks unlimited sites. Restore purchase and manage subscription links are in the app.
  • Targets Android 16 and supports the 16 KB memory page sizes Google Play requires for Android 15 and later.

Fixed since the test builds

  • Upload files, Upload folder and the download-folder picker no longer crash.
  • Test connection shows the server’s welcome message instead of the “234 Switching to TLS” reply.
  • The site editor says when a password is already saved.
  • A new transfer no longer briefly shows a far too long “time left”.
  • Transfer status lines no longer wrap, list rows keep their height in selection mode, and settings icons sit at the top of tall cards.
