OVERVIEW -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HostDesk is a network diagnostics tool designed for IT professionals and network engineers. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data HostDesk accesses, how it is used, and what is never collected or transmitted. The short version: HostDesk does not collect, store, share, or transmit any personal data. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HostDesk does NOT collect, transmit, or share any of the following: - Personal information (name, email, phone number, address) - Device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID, Android ID) - Location data (GPS, network-based, or otherwise) - Usage analytics or crash reports - Network data you enter into the app (IP addresses, domain names, ports) - Results of any diagnostic tool (ping results, DNS records, port scan data) - Any data to third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services HostDesk contains NO ads and NO third-party SDKs of any kind. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. DATA THE APP ACCESSES (ON-DEVICE ONLY) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To perform its diagnostic functions, HostDesk accesses the following information locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is never stored between sessions: 3.1 Network Configuration The app reads your device's current WiFi network information including IP address, MAC address, subnet mask, gateway, SSID, signal strength, link speed, frequency, and DNS server addresses. This is used solely to display the Device Info screen and is not stored or transmitted. 3.2 Network Interfaces The app enumerates active network interfaces on your device to display interface names and assigned IP addresses on the Device Info screen. 3.3 Internet Access The app uses your internet connection to perform the following user-initiated diagnostic actions only: - Ping: Sends ICMP/reachability probes to a hostname or IP address that you explicitly enter. - DNS Lookup: Sends DNS queries (via UDP port 53 and/or DNS-over-HTTPS to dns.google and cloudflare-dns.com) for a domain name that you explicitly enter. These queries are standard DNS requests and do not include any personal information. - TCP/UDP Port Scan: Attempts connections to IP addresses and ports that you explicitly enter. - Traceroute: Sends UDP probe packets to a destination you explicitly enter. - Public IP Detection: Makes a single request to api.ipify.org to display your public IPv4 address on the Device Info screen. No other data is sent in this request. All network activity is initiated solely by you through explicit actions within the app. The app does not make any background network requests. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. PERMISSIONS USED -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HostDesk requests the following Android permissions: INTERNET Required to perform all network diagnostic functions (ping, DNS lookup, port scan, traceroute, public IP detection). ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Required to detect active network connections and read link properties including DNS server configuration. ACCESS_WIFI_STATE Required to read WiFi-specific information (SSID, signal strength, link speed, frequency, DHCP configuration) displayed on the Device Info screen. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you perform a DNS lookup, the app may contact the following third-party DNS resolver services as part of its multi-strategy resolution approach: - Google Public DNS (dns.google) — https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/privacy - Cloudflare DNS (cloudflare-dns.com) — https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ - OpenDNS (doh.opendns.com) — https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/about/legal/privacy-full.html - ipify (api.ipify.org) — https://www.ipify.org These services are contacted only when you initiate a DNS lookup or load the Device Info screen. Only the domain name you enter is sent to these services as part of a standard DNS query. No personal data is transmitted. These services have their own privacy policies, linked above. DATA STORAGE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HostDesk does not store any data on your device beyond what the Android operating system temporarily holds in memory while the app is running. When you close the app, all data is cleared. DATA SHARING -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BackendSide does not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share any user data with any third party. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HostDesk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. SECURITY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since HostDesk does not collect or transmit personal data, there is no personal data at risk.
